Agreed, I'm all for trying out new ideas, but it can be dangerous from a business perspective in the sense that they may not "get" the artistic idea behind it and just see it as weird.
Sort of like introducing abstract art to someone who doesn't know anything about art whatsoever. They can love it, or they can hate it, but you can't tell for sure.
