In my last job (before last) I worked 50 hours in three days before I quit. A few days before at my appraisal I remember them say "Some people make it in this world and some people don't." The company has since folded and the directors have lost their houses. Fuck you, you fucking LOSERS. :)

I am aboout to have a word to the directors about the hours the team are doing.
Its alway down to poor project management, resorucing and time planning.
In a way, I am going to give them a 'verbal warning' as they would do to me if my work was not up to scratch.
No one can complain of you quit after trying to fix the situation, but I think you should atleast try to do something about it before resigning.

Exactly what's going on at my job. Horrible project management. Thanks to those god awful skills I'll be clocking a good 10 hours at home this weekend. I hate to be the one to complain on here, but it wears on you when you really don't have any reason to look fwd to the weekend. Friday is nothing more than a third Tuesday in essence...

working hard for a company is one thing, but working hard and not get compensated for all the over time, is another thing.

Some employers just don't get it that working their people to the bone hinders the quality of the work and can permanently damage their morale.
I recently heard of an interactive firm in SF, can't remember the name, who doesn't let their employees work more than 35 hours a week, and is very flexible about time off and scheduling, letting people come in or not, whatever they are more comfortable with as long as the work gets done. They have regular 'field trips', nights out, retreats, etc. etc...and their employees are stoked. Sounds a lot like what Google does for their employees.
This is SO what I wanna do when I open my own firm one of these days. I'm working now for a firm where the hours are totally schizo, one week it's enforced boredom & NT refreshing x 1,000, then the next week I work late all seven days. It nearly burned me out right after Christmas this year.
I swear I won't treat my people that way when I have my own shop.

if you work hard, you will get rich one day.
