I'm getting a mac book pro and can't decide between 15 and 17. People who have the 17 - are you glad you got the 17 - or do you find that it is too big to take everywhere with you.

get the 17, with 2g ram, your set

The 17 has a bigger screen than the 15. Don't know if that helps your decision or not...

so it is rumored that a new pb is coming out this may..
maybe you should wait?

I had the same dilemma - got the 15" and its just perfect.

if you actually carry your laptop around and not leave it on a desk all the time, a 17" laptop is a pain in the ass

It wasn't a dilemma for me, I got the 17 and would never go smaller. And I carry it e v e r y w h e r e.

(Feb 26 07, 11:30)I second that..
I had the 12 for a while.. pretty convenient, it almost fits in your wallet but its a bit to small, 17 is a bit to big.. 15 is just right..

I'll second this. I commuted with my 17" PB for a year, sometimes running with it on my back and I still never regretted a second of my choice.

i love my 17" monitor. After I found a bag that fits it, I don't think I have any problems toting it around.

It really depends what you want to do with it. If you do any flash work, even a 17inch screen is a pain to work with. 15 would be a nightmare.

I've got a 17", it doesn't really leave the house or office that much. It cramps my style when watching dvd's in the air, literally.

are the macbooks significantly lighter than the titanium powerbooks? if i need a big monitor, i'll plug it into a desktop monitor. don't really do much actual work on the road that i need lots o screen real estate. plus i am apparently a feeble girly man while you are all strong like bull.
- aliceblue0
With my 15" I have an external monitor where I do most of my work - so I have the best of both worlds.
- aliceblue0
asnd besides I'm a girly girl, too

i got the 15" purely for the reason of max usabiluty for me in travel. i am very mobile and work in the same vein.
- i CAN do work on an airplane w/ my 15"
- i CANNOT do work on an airplane w/ my 17"
- Soler0
madirish, why can't you work on the 17" on the plane?

battery lasts about 1.5 hours in the 17" it sucks ass. i like the screen real estate and it is easy to carry, but the battery life blows....
- madirish0
because american carriers suck ass and make the room too tight.
now, it *is* possible to fit it between you and the seat, but it is so tight and uncomfortable, IMO

17 is a pain in the ass to lug around. when i next upgrade i'm opting for the 15 instead...
