I'm looking for a simple Web2.0 (or normal) webshop which is simple to configure and design. That has some features but doesn't have to have to much. Something like shopify.com but which is free (or very cheap) and I can host on my own server.
Any suggestions?

tell me what a web2 shop is and how it differs from a web1 shop

web 2 is '1' louder.

I was actually thinking that my gag there was my of my finest moments on these boards....
Then you go an ruin it by not referencing the 'Spinal Tap' quote.
Dang...

Do you mean to design yourself or to host?
Like http://www.etsy.com

"Well, you see, my web goes to '2'"
"Why don't you make '1' better?"
"Because this one goes to '2', you see. No stop, don't touch it. Don't even look at it..."

Yup, I want to host the shop on my own server. It should be something easy to customize and easy to handle.
Something like etsy or shopify.

Thanks theblueone that seems to be something I will test it tonight but it looks ok.
By the way my web runs on safari ;)

I don't think the free version handles payments automatically , just send you the order...I think the paid version adds paypal functionality outta the box, but it's still pretty cheap..nbut the software is form some dudes in Poland..soooo....

the '2' refers to its reflection

Yeah looks great but you can't host it on your own server.

dann..I use Big Cartel on a shop I run, which is similar to Shopify - both of them rock..but the guy was looking for one you host on your own server, which is something I've been looking for myself for a long time..something simple without the OSCommerce bloat..
I'm shocked that with all the blog, cms freeware that's out there, no one has really done a shopping cart system...

Exactly I search everywhere and I found Big Cartel (couldn't remember the name) and Shopify which are pretty good but you can't host them yourself.
The Quick.cart looks ok, but I'll have to try that.
Funny that there is none.

Some bozos are hyping a work in progress here:
I was following the developmnent for over a year now and all they'ev managed to do is design a shiny 2.0 website and logo and make a big deal about how they were scraping a PHP framework for a ROR framework 8 months into it, and then telling everybody that, you know, it won't be free, even though it's called "Free CSS Cart"..and then they were looking for free help in coding the thing...best vaporware of 2006..
