I bought 2GB's for my 17" Powerbook, but I dont know if PNY works well with it, does anyone know? I havent had a problem yet..but how different is it from MAC RAM?

Mac RAM is something Apple buys somewhere else, Hynix as far as I remember. I have a feeling that my Patriot 2GB drains battery a tad quicker, something one more person who has it confirmed, but I still have to test it properly to be sure. Other than that, RAM is RAM..

i got a 2.3 intel duo 2 on the way with 2gb of ram. can i buy a single 2 gb aftermarket chip to work with the oem ram or do i need to get a brand new set of 3gb?

from apple:
3GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 1x2GB, 1x1GB
so you will take out one 1GB stick and add a 2GB stick, match the specs and you should be ok, of course buy decent ram, not some cheap ass no brand stuff.
on a tech note: does ddr2 actually work in that mode? normally that means matching ram modules? I wonder if adding 3GB is actually slower since it might not be in ddr2...hrmmm
