Hello friends,
Does anyone know of sites where companies post projects for firms to bid on?Like if MTV were looking for a new studio to do a motion spot, where might they post that Job?
I'm curious how those things get out there.

I don't think they would to be honest.

So, do you think they would just go directly to firms that they know about already?

No real brands would ever actually do this. It depends how big. If they are huge, and have an agency, the agency will sub out the work.
If they are firing an agency or don't have one, they may consult with a Search Consultant as to the best vendors to approach for bidding.
Then, whatever the case, they might send out an RFP, or just an open bid.

I think only the public sector do this?
so hospitals, goverment stuff?

indeed it is very much you who is approached by a production company not MTV themselves.

I see, that's interesting.

I was thinking about how it seems like so many motion designers out there have done stuff for MTV or VH1 etc...And I was curious as to how they went about finding those jobs.

(Feb 13 07, 09:04)They either know someone at the prod. company or agency, or womever is making the decision picked something out of the stack of 1000 reels on the desk.
Or, they freelanced for that particular gig at the vendor's location.

OR, also consider that many designers now include 'sample' work. For example, they would do an ad or reel for MTV, not to show it as a client, but to show the potential client or employer what they are capble of doing.
The Brand, in this case MTV, generates a familiar feeling since it is well known.
