Does anyone know anybody who works there?
- subversve0
yes, why?

What's it like there? I've read a couple books they put out. Seems like a great place to work.

i haven't worked there, so i wouldn't really know. the people i know who do work there seem to enjoy it. i've only been there a couple of times, but the company seem to really be interested in fostering creativity, which is kind of novel from my perspective.
one of the great things about ideo is that they involve themselves with different design disciplines, so they can do the product design and the interface design and make them work well together. more often than not, i only get to have a say on the interface portions of products that i work on, which makes me sad when i see other parts that aren't designed as well as they could be.

(Feb 13 07, 09:52)Hey Eric, do you know Davide Agnelli?
And are you working there as a graphic designer, or as an interaction designer?
- ericstrohl0
I do know Davide. I work with the software exeriences group so I do alot of AD on Ui projects, but also work with various branding and graphics projects here, as its more in line with my experience prior to IDEO.

well, the next time you see davide you say hello from christian from IDII for me...
Are you enjoying the the work you're doing there coming from your background? Its of interest to me as I've been enticed to consider doing something similar up in boston

I'll def pass along the message.
IDEO is a great opportunity. I'd say that no matter your field, or where you want to take your career- it would be a good move for at least a few years. I know of very few companies who operate like we do, and put serioulsy advanced design thinking into everything. Plus you get an opportunity to work with smart talented people in every discipline and that helps to expand your skills. I say give it a try!

Thanks Eric. I'm pretty familiar with IDEO as I got my masters out at IDII in Italy (partly due to the participation of moggridge) – hard to know from what I have seen being there and from colleagues who are working in the ID end about what someone with my kind of skill set would be providing.
Appreciate the brief review.

eric, do you know arna out in palo alto?
- kezza_20
I think I've done ok these days.. i'm a CD in a large ad agency and get to work on some cool stuff, but I'd half my wages just to work at IDEO.
the perfect blend of design for making money and design for the social good.
I think they are great, and if you get the chance...dont hesitate

You must love Swiffers™.

you have some fantastic work, eric.

Thanks for the responses. I've read a lot about them and have a couple of the books they've put out. Seems like a fantastic place. Is the San Fran office their main office? Do they even have a main office?
- madirish0
the original office/HQ (was?) was Palo Alto. I would guess either the SF or that one is HQ still....

Palo Alto. But there are different groups in different offices.
