I like the general layout, but the small type and lack of contrast are tough on this viewer's eyes.

agreed....everything is a little to pastel or light...Nice color scheme, but I think you can add some more contrast somehow...also, with more content wont that small space feel quite confined? do you have any other pages designed?

Nice color palette, nice choice of typeface.
Should the pic be a) cropped bigger or b) more in sync with the text? It seems like they are pulling in different directions.
I wonder what the secondary pages will look like with the unusual placement of nav.

agreed on the contrast issue... and the mrsEaves is feelin' a lil too 'bland' for this application - either use it as the logotype and just that... or the headings... but there's too much of the mrs up there at the moment...
... needs some zing... this should 'inspire' and heighten the users 'desire' to learn etc... I'm getting a Pharmaceutical Company vibe / something 'clinical' and 'depressive' almost... (if that makes any sense)...
I'd try losing some of the pastel tone and 'candying it up a bit'... perhaps look into some more vibrant/attentive fonts other than mrsEaves... she's too relaxing imho. :)

Clone stamp the glasses away on the chick and she'd be a 7. Now she's a 5 and a half.
On a serious note, I'd up the contrast a bit more on the bottom block. But overall, very nice.
