afternoon folks ..
trying to update a website that was created in the dreadful Frontpage...the header.asp was included using a Frontpage webbot script that Dreamweaver obviously doesn't handle .. its going alright except i've replaced the Frontpage script with in dreamweaver .. Now when i view these pages in dreamweaver only the header shows up in split view and not the body content.. even though the code is all there.... any ideas why this is?

this is how it shows up in dreamweaver ..between comments
webbot bot="Include" U-Include="header.htm" TAG="BODY" startspan
- rson0
looks fine

any idea why the body won't show up in split view or design view?
- rson0
yeah looks like you have a whole page at the top

I would not rely on dreameaver canvas mode. it does not display anything properly. I would take out the first

< html >

shouldn't the body code below the 'include' show up though .. thanks for your help btw
- rson0
i am only seeing the html in view source. i can not see any includes. But it looks like something is is printing out twice. View the source of the html and you will see. You need to take some code out. But if your only concern is if will preview with in DW. It does not matter. it does not need to.

yeah i see that in view source ... i just like to use split view .. i find it faster to click on items in the preview.. to locate them in the code instead of reading through it

thanks,,
maybe i'll just set the header up in a dreamweaver template instead of these includes.. i've gotta redesign the site anyways

ahh. bad habbit. DW will add unnecessary code. Just my 2 cents. But i have never seen DW work like that

i know what you mean.. but i just use it to find things in the code and then change the actual code .. i read up on SSI's in DW help and its suppose to preview everything but the include ... perhaps its something with the extra html files that FP has added

Haha, you have two pages that why...
check your code
< html>
< head>
< /head>
< body>then again on the same page
< html>
< head>
< /head>

< /body>
< /html>
