Is there such a thing as a cheap swatch book? I need to get hold of one and had no idea they cost so much.

You can buy second hand perhaps ebay but Pantone update the colours on a annual basis. Plus if people leave the swatch books out all day in the light and sun the colours will alter.
I use an old one but only as a reference for my clients, then when I visit the printers I have a look at there book and see what is good...

I always think that printing the pantone swatch book bust be the most expensive print job there is, except for maybe the panton chips book.
Imagine getting quotes for that job from printers.
Ring Ring
"Hello, yeah I've got a print job that I want a quote on please.""what are the details of the job?"
"erm, its a 150pp job, ring bound, black on with... 1,114 spots please, oh and perforations too..."
*beeeeeeeeeeep.
"hello? hello?
