not particularly original, like someone else said, this kind of thing is a standard brief on most industrial/product degree courses.
Of course Frank Gehry was ahead of the game with his corrugated cardboard chair in 1969:

using extrusion method is very common
one thing is that, most of the schools challenge you to build a cardboard chair with out any glue, tape or any other methods of securing except cardboard.
