NT archiving has ruined any hope of accessing the multitude of other useful printer threads - can anyone offer any contemporary recommendations?
Looking to spend less than £500 - am under the impression that my only viable option is the Epson r1800. I'd prefer a Canon.
Also, if anyone has any good guides to roll-feed printing, I'd appreciate it (and you know how loving and giving I get when I feel appreciative, *rowr*)

we have a epson 2100, 7 colour and it has roll feed and auto trim feature...it was about £600 2.5 years back..

...and it can also use super A3

Thanks for getting back, UndoUndo.
Is it a good workhorse, then? I'm not particularily after Photo-printing - just general Illustrator/Photoshop output, with good (need not be perfect) colour matching. I'm after a printer I can abuse with a variety of stock and the current version of your 2100 (the 2400) accepts media upto 1.2mm deep, which turns me on in ways I can't even begin to describe.
As for roll-feed - I'd like to do A3-width (ie. A4 height) roll prints, up to a couple of metres long - is this possible? Or am delusional?

yeah its been very good to us, we dont do lots of print work here but what we do comes out great and the colour matching is good. We do lots of photo visuals on it and has never let us down.It also takes lots of different stock, has the carridge at the back for the roll (which can be oversized) and has the auto trim knife and "basket" to catch it.
7 colours
Photo Black
Light black
Cyan
Light Cyan
Magenta
Light Magenta
YellowAll individual cartirdges so you get good efficiency.its quick and is constantly in use here. weve never had a problem and also found non epson stock that is cheap(er) and good quality.
The roll diameter looks to be upto about 8-10cm diameter, so with the right weight you would easy get a couple of metres out of it.
if i were buying with my own cash i wouldnt hesitate to buy one

(Feb 2 07, 06:17)Exactly the kind of opinion I'm after! If I get one through Dabs with VAT knocked off for around £460, so this one sounds like a go-er.
Again, thanks for your help - trying to derive a practical opinion from scouting printer reviews on the web is nigh-on pointless.

Just fishing for any further opinions (esp. on the roll-feeding aspect), as I'm intending on splashing out on a printer over the next couple of days.
