Sup y'all,
So a couple of good friends from high school are running a construction company back home. Over the past few months I've been doing some minor consulting for their graphics and what not just helping some friends out. It became clear that I was to become their go to person for this work so I suggested they actually pay me and get a contract between us. They agreed and asked me to write something up.
Now I'm stuck, I've never actually done real freelance work. Should I charge per project or hourly? What is the going rate for hourly work? Has anyone had any experience with this kind of stuff between friends, anything I should be aware of? Any advice would be awesome.
Thanks.

Personally I would do it hourly/per diem depending on the project and then invoice at the end of each month.

suggest a retainer for XX amount of hours/ month, at a discounted "retainer" rate, to do all their miscellaneous odd jobs.
