the correlations between pantone swatches and pantone screen values are shit...they look nothing alike. i always have to fucking say yes it's orange, but much darker/muted/etc. than what you see on screen mr. client on the other side of the country!

Well... it depends on the quality of your calibration... but it will never be perfect, with print and screen being such different medias.
I find it best to just courier/overnight a printed proof from the source to a client since most clients screens have crap calibration/or cheap panels anyway.

Sending a chip is good too... but that requires your client to have at least the slightest amount of imagination to envision it in the final application. Some people cannot. :)

LCD screens are unreliable for colors. It over saturates.
