alright, so who's worked with one or the other, or both? Which has better detail work (subjective)? Which has more sophisticated kerning (objective)?
And once I know which one comes more highly recommended, where's the best place to buy? From what I can tell, Gridnik is only available through The Foundry?

gridnick renders poorly on screen at small px
like in the menu in the left:

good point Witt – this'll be for a print project, but it will be distributed heavily in PDF format as well for on-screen viewing.
sorry I didn't link these up in my original post:

i got gridnik, as Witt says, looks shit on screen although it does make a good choice for big bold headlines...etc. kerning required.
it does look nice in print.

thanks bluejam – yeah I doubt I'd use it in body copy, but I'll avoid it all together if it's going to take me hours to clean up the kerning.
from what I've read, it looks like Bender is a newer typeface built off of Gridnik, and maybe done a bit better?

i tried gridnick in print down to 4pt and it rendered perfectly. small extents of text, but the kerning came out nice too.
bender looks to have smaller stems (!if this is the word in english...) in some words so when printing small it may become a bit blotchy?
