Anybody have a recommendation for a digital video camera, or a praticular brand that is better?
Trying to keep it under $500

I guess sony will always be better when it comes to video.
I have a canon though and I like it..
it was like 300 bucks 2 years ago, so its prolly way cheaper now..

meeklo, is yours a DV recorder?
Is it hard to rip to PC, or should I get one with like a 20-30gb hard drive?

yes!
not to brag, I have a mac and its super easy to:
a) download footage, to i-movie or final cut.
b) set my camera as a second monitor (extended desktop) to record my vj sets on tape.
c) use my camera as a web cam
no drivers, never even opened the installer cd that comes w/ camera. I had to buy a minid dv to FW cable, cause USB would be slower.. but if you dont have FW on your computer, you can use usb.
that's all.

if you want to download footage from dv tape or record from computer to dv, is super easy.
I use my camera usually in very low light situations, and it's not really that great, but hey it was 300 bucks. I couln't spend more money thant that.
I also got a $20 from amazon that is bad ass, super light and small, suntek is the brand.
