Hey fokes, designed these logos a while ago for two ministries at my church. The first is for the college ministry, second for post-college/young adults.
Had a crit here a while back, they weren't looking so good then. These are pretty much done, just wanted opinions on typography etc...the college life logo was done w/ india ink then finessed in AI. I thought a wordmark made the most sense for each of these. CollegeLife is just supposed to look young and energetic, really wanted to keep it simple without overt, tired Biblical icons. QuarterLife has the flame worked in from the Bible verse about Xians being a light to the world.
There are no color rules besides contemporary & appropriately young, that's why these are just B/W here...
Cheers

i like the style of quarterlife alot, the R's really stand out to me.

College Life is nicely done, but it's feeling a bit heavy on the right... the 'e' on the far right is considerably larger than the other two e's in the logotype. The hand-done approach means they don't need to be identical, but a bit closer in scale might help tie it all up.

I really like the Quarterlife wordmark, but to me it feels like the "O" in the Q needs to be a bit wider and the ~ on the Q not angled down so far.
Just my 2cents

points taken, however i'm happy with the scale difference in College Life; I wanted the last 'e' to have a strong finish to it. thx for the feedback.

i'd skew College Life a just a hair forward.. so the verticals are a touch forward, or at least true upright.
as it is they feel a bit backhand.. but not backhand enough to make it an informal style thing.

yikes not my cup of tea as they say.

The second 'r' in Quarterlife kinda irks me. Just because the arm isn't attached anywhere, and it is attached in the previous 'r'. I imagine that this was a decision to increase legability.

thanks chossy.
so you don't like the india ink idea or the execution?

(Jan 29 07, 12:51)Yep, though I was going for legibility, rather than legability ;)

I really dig the quarterlife one! What font is that?

in Quarterlife, I would connect the R to the L like you did with the R next to the T. I looks like a floating backwards comma to me. That's my 2 cents...Otherwise it's a cool mark.

i like the quarter life.
At first I thought it was just a font, which it probably is, but I liked what you did to it.
I like the Candle LIght over the i

--------------------------agreed. If you are going to make them 2 words.. you need to make the L big like the Q. If you are going to combine them... do what dbloc said.

like the quarterlife mark, but i think theres possibly a little bit too much going on. Maybe loose the leafy bit and join up the Q. My first impression was that it would be a good logo for juice.
