how can read my squirrel mail account through Mail or some other email app? dont see anything in my cpanel...

Squirrel Mail is just an email client like any other.
Just input your mailserver, username and password into whatever client you want and access your account. If you don't know your mailserver, contact your host provider.

In CPanel, within your mail page, there's a way to set it to go to Outlook. Is that what you're talking about, or specifically within Squirrel Mail?

well im not on a pc, so not outlook, but probably Mail or whatever the other popular one is, i cant think of the name now.
so what i could just do webmail.dneexists.com (my email login page) and put in my u/p and it'll read it?

I was up modding my Roundcube installation just last night. Anyway, it wont help. Roundcube and Squirrel Mail are basically the same - web interfaces for your email, just like Mail and Thunderbird are desktop interfaces - but to set it up you'd still need the info you'd be putting into Mail anyway.
To retrieve your email in Mail you'll need the incoming and outgoing mail servers and your username and password. Whether your host supports this is a different matter, but they probably do.
Your mail servers will probably be something like: mail.domainname.com or smtp.domainname.com

thanks for the info.
yeah id rather not use that roundcube as it'd be the same thing, i dont want a browser based email, i want to use Mail or something.
ive been looking around on my cpanel and in squirrel mail and i cant find outgoing/incoming addresses, has no one does this with squirrel mail before?

you need to check the same mail account you have created on your cpanel.
Check the info around your server or ask for support on that:- User
(often- pass;
- pop3 and smtp servers
(often mail.yoursite.com or mail/pop.yourserver.com)with these settings you'll be able to configure your local client mail software like thunderbird, outlook or 'Mail'..
I hope this helps
- kodap0
btw.. with a pop3 server messages will be automatically transferred to your computer and will no longer be accessible via squirrel mail. if you want to keep the messages on the server reachable by squirrel, use an IMAP server. often imap.yourdomain_or_server.com

Set up your email on google hosted, and it's pretty easy to set up in Mail or any email app as well.
Just enable POP in the settings menu.

(Jan 28 07, 15:17)You've got to keep in mind that what you want to do has *nothing* to do with Squirrel Mail. You can't "tell it" to send your email elsewhere because that would be like telling Mail that you want to check your email with Outlook. 1) You can't 2) It doesn't care. Either you use it or you don't.
If you just can't find the incoming/outgoing mail server address(s) then it might be time to shoot tech support an email to help you out. Who are you hosted with?
- doesnotexist0
yeah, i tried all combinations of pop/imap/webmail.mysite.com, no luck.
no one has done this with teh squirrels before?
- doesnotexist0
yes welded, i know all all about incoming/outgoing servers and that it's not squirrel mail telling mail to read my mail. and i cant seem to find this information on my cpanel, which i find weird.
just thought maybe if someone has done this, what addresses they used.
ah well, thanks for everyone's help, emailing tech support.
