Joyride2,
no question, for every 10 bad managers I've had 1 good one. I take a very hands off, big picture approach to my management style. I dont care when people come and go, I just want honesty and quality.
I learn new and better ways of doing things everyday.
Surely one sign of a bad manager would the manager who feels as though they have nothing to learn from their employees. I seriously consider the people I manage to be my greatest teachers.
ok, off to the Deerhoof concert now.

if you want to learn more about larger scale integration projects, i would start with shop like Sapient. they do pretty good design on their applications.
they do not do only web stuff but some stuff like application dev also.
mind you Frog also does app dev.Frog = more design product UE
Sapient = IT consulting but applies design aspect
Cap Gemini / BearingPoint / Accenture / IBM / Delloitte / HP / Fujitsu / EDS == traditional IT consulting but not limited to web, more tech integration (CRM, data mining etc)
Yahoo / Google = web only UE but great place to learn more
/ Sapient / Cap Gemini / Yahoo
