I actually worked at johnsonbanks for a while when I graduated and got to know him pretty well. He was reallly friendly, with a great passion for ideas. We got on well. I think he gets a bad name sometimes for sticking up for his designs, but I'd rather someone created work with passion that got people talking, and believed in it enough to stand up and defend it, than put out some ill thought out work and forgot about it.
Johnsonbanks is always number 1 or 2 in the creative surveys trading places with apple design for the top spot and has won more d&ads than prett much any other graphics studio.
my little defence of someone who is often maligned.
He's also a very talented guiatrist, annoying really.

I wonder if they'll experiment with the idea more, then? I can see a regular feature with quarter pages being auctioned off for non- (/demi-) corporate/commercial design/ideas* being quite an intriguing hook.
Or maybe not, if the 1st and 2nd tier bidders pulled out :\

comes off like a collection of thoughtless knee-jerk reactions from a group of bored designers.

-i suppose i was enjoying the fact that the newstoday pvn was being used specifically as a means to illustrate this kind of 'bored and bitchy at work' blog culture.
i wasn't meaning to go anywhere with it, just stating the obvious i suppose.
- frankiefido0
that wasn't very good.
i was just laughing at the fact that CR/Mother portrayed Newstoday exactly as it is.
that's it.
