found it, it was a problem with the global security setting. seems i couldn't access my local files, changed the settings an it now works, sorry for wisting your time.

right, so it works in the browser but not in the play (jn flash preview)?
- Timson0
maybe it's got something to do with the security settings, isn't there something on the macromedia site wich let you specify wich files can be accessed by flash, can't really recall.
- Timson0
hm, it is working online tho. but not locally.

try loading into level 1
- Timson0
and as said, this works in the flashplayer but not in the browser.

yes, i'm loading into levels and my var is situated at level0. it's called 'lang' and holds the language chosen on level0. then i use switch to determine what's chosen.
switch (_level0.lang) {
case "eng" :
btns = ["CONTACT", "PACKAGES", "NEWS", "HOME"];
break;
case "sp" :
btns = ["CONTACTO", "PAQUETES", "NOTICIAS", "CASERO"];
break;
default :
btns = ["CONTACT", "PACKAGES", "NEWS", "HOME"];
}

are you loading swfs into the levels? can you see whts being loaded and how are you trying to access the vars?
- Timson0
yes, it's not working either. so it isn't deconcept, thanks for clearing that out. but what could it be?
- UndoUndo0
have you tried embedding it without the deconept method?
- Timson0
ok, it works inside the flashplayer but not inside the browser. it started since i'm using the deconcept method for writing the swf object. could that interfere?

hm, i can't seem to be accessing any variables located on different levels since i started exporting as fp 8.0 AS2.0. any clues?
