shutdown:
1st £4,895 is tax free!!probably got another job though i guess so it wouldn't be in the 4,895
one would hope!

on the flip side, tiny tax payment = tiny profit.
and when you're going for a mortgage its profits they look at with SE, not salary.

i've only had £1k come in anyway
very small freelance stuff lol

I hate the payment on account thing. I just got hit with £3.5k bill here, but the on account takes it up to £5k. Even when you know it's coming, it shits on you.
Although I don't begrudge the system etc, etc it goes to pay for health, education, warheads etc, etc...

i claim clothing (but not all, not the speciality gimp suits), a portion of rent, phone, internets, restaurants, some bar bills, lunch, all my travel, etc etc.. chuck a couple of plane tickets in there.

Roomfive, you should be doing your tax for 2005/06 (earnings upto April 2006) by 31st Jan or you get £100 quid fine, the tax year ends in April not the due date for your tax return.
DancerCheers Dancer... but I started freelancing in July 2006... so what does that mean I need to do? :/
