I haven't read every post here but that logo is just awful.
It seriously looks awful.
The lens flare gets in the way and is bad for the eyes, even the spot angles are all wrong.
technically it is poor and graphically it's atrocious.
Does the company that created that not have any quality control?
As for stepping out of a comfort zone - this belongs in the waste bin zone.

client comment: how about a lens flair
Enter response: ok sure we can try that(gulp)
client: love it!
agency: (damn)

I thought it was atrocious when I first saw it, but I sort of like it now after seeing the clip.

JohnsonBanks are one of the best design agencies in the UK, they are unlikely have a problem with quality control or to be bossed around by a client.

sorry jim, just jokes
- sumojim0
So what do you think about JohnsonBanks taking offense at people not liking their logo?
- material-10
as you said, if they are one of the best in the uk then they should know that you can't win everyones heart everytime. The client is the one that matters.

its in their right.
they have their stand.
i have mine.
both stands have valid points.
i just would have done it differently.

They sound like ageing net n00bs.

One thing I can say is that this identity will become a nightmare when it comes to reproduction on mixed media, people need to forsee the future of the brand and if it will be expandable or not. bad job.

My biggest problem is it's relevance. It's a lens flare. But is it meant to be something more like a projector light. Lens flares in movies piss me off. The whole thing has a 'first idea' feel about it.
By a junior, even.

In reply to agcreative's post...
i did some freelance work on some products for the BFI a few months back using this new logo and whilst it may not be as straightforward as other logos in its ease of use for various applications, it threw up some interesting options.
Also, it must be said that there is a one colour version, which personally, i prefer...and was used to nice effect by the company i worked with on this.
Whe i first saw it, i did find it a little strange, but at the end of the day its nice to have soemthing a little different from the norm.
Even if it does have a lens flare in it!

both logos are shite, acronyms are shite and lazy.
this is not worth even discussing on this forum, neither logos merit any design discussion.
