A little background (i'll make it short):
I put in my notice at the day job of 2.5 years to freelance. My boss offered instead to greatly reduce my hours and pay so i could do both. helping both of our situations...i was lead to understand.
Cut to this afternoon:
we are "negotiating" the details and he comes in and offers me 50% of my salary to do ALL of my job from home.//i'll get right on that.

Yea, even if you went half for real ... that would never work out, haha.
You'd be expected to do the same amount of work by everyone you work with after working there so long.
It'd be ingrained in them to expect that no matter what your status was.

I know of an opening if anyone in Denver wants to work on LASIK full-time.

Simple - if you give me 0.5 my salary, I will do 0.5 weeks work for you.
Log your hours, submit them, do your own freelance the other 20 hours.

Sounds no good. When you work full time, you aren't always working. Probably lucky to do 30 hours billable out of every 40 hours at work.
Your 20 hour work week will take you 25 hours if you're tracking your time. You'll lose 1/4 off your hourly rate at least.
