Anyone know how the timeline control and visual transition (blur) effects were done in this (ridiculously awesome) flash video?

Skip intro and watch the movie...so sweet!
Thanks in advance!

I saw a tutorial on how to fake this. You just took a blurred version of your image and cross-faded it with the real one.
But like material said:

Abot five years of hard work and education?

can you tell if it's timeline-based? i'm looking for a similarly-capable video player component...one that lets you really control every frame of the movie but won't get bogged down on slower machines.
excellent info friends, thanks again.

dang, the flabs have gotten good...

I think that was done in QuarkXpress™

This is one of the worst car websites I've ever seen (It's got a lens flare for chrissakes!). Am I missing something?
Timeline control is standard stuff, blurs look like prerendered zoom blurs from Photoshop.

not trying to talk shit here, but have you seen your own site there caseyc?
:)
- version30
there's no lens flare or faked blur there
- caseyc0
Hmm, what does my site or lack thereof have to do with anything?

damn my new intern is super hot. must think clean thoughts.

a basis for evaluation as to what is considered valuable visually/experience-wise. it is what levels the field so we can all have a basis for dialogue, instead of pot-shots thrown.

The original post was talking about the video timeline, when you click one of the sections it transitions to a zoom blurred car image which shinks to the bottom left corner, then there is a 3d panel interface with a lens flare in the bg...

(Jan 19 07, 12:01)Granted, but even if I had a site it would be irrelevant given the subject matter. You just wanted to be a dick. Now if you had said, "what car sites would you say are great" that would have been "a basis for dialogue, instead of pot-shots thrown. "
:)

i am sorry you feel that way, as i said from my post; "not trying to talk shit here" because i truly did mean it.
i disagree that it is irrelevant, but we will just have to disagree and that's cool.
i do actually think it is a well-done car site, lens-flare or not, and provides a well-conceived platform to display the car and brand. if that flare is what is the criteria for deeming the entire site horrible, to each there own, but i would think the critique would go deeper than that..... hence my 'pot-shots thrown comment, and why i mentioned your site; so i could see /realize/discover why you might mean by the comment.
we cool?

mad, i'm with casey on this one
how does this

or this

change the validity of what i have to sayreally it only seems to allow you to humble yourself of stand on a soapbox for no apparent reason

matt, maybe stick with gourmet lunch meats ;)

haha.
v4- i am serious. you read my last post i am sure, but your work does in fact give context to what i read of yours here. i see you as an accomplished, skillful desinger who may make crtique of a work and through that, i can reference your style, aesthetic, cues and see why you hold that statement to be true. honestly.
i am not a person who stands on a soap box at all. you will not see me doing it here, nor anywhere. i take critique seriously and comments such as that one i did not see as fair, nor complete.
i have tried to make it more clear to caseyc what i meant, and i really did not mean to be a personal attack... as much as it might have sounded.
- version30
mad, thank you and i do understand the point you made in your previous post. I was just wondering how casey's lack of online presence had to do with how his statements were received, that's all. casey has input on other topics that offers insight. I was just looking for the correlation between online presence and credibility.
but before this gets out of hand, let me first say how wonderful a person i think you are and please do not take extreme offense to anything i may say because i would hate for any bandwagoneering to occur in here :D
