I live in Shanghai, and i can tell you the Chinese are already fat. It’s just they are so small to start with; having twice their weight in fat doesn't show that much. A local Chinese meal has so much oil and fat in it it's no wonder they carry fat.. The main difference here is the portions. Americans eat way more then they need to, a 2 litre bottle of coke would last a family a week here, not just the trip to work. The other difference would be snack foods, Chinese love fruits and vegetables as snacks, bits of dried fish instead of a kingsize snickers. They might get a bit fatter, but not before they've used up all the worlds recourses, a habit that America really has given them !!

That makes sense, mydo. I know Indian/Sri Lankan males tend to have bellies (just like many males), especially when they come to North America, but that's due to the rice and really oily foods. They eat large proportions as well.
My family and I live in Ottawa and we don't eat nearly the same amount of food as the people in Toronto. That's one of the reasons my parents moved - to get away from the constant partying.

the chinese are rebelling against the starbucks location within the forbidden city of beijing
"The moves reflect China's ambiguous attitude about growing Western economic and cultural influence and its own identity."

i mean at least get some decent coffee in there! if gimme coffee! opened a stand i bet there'd be a lot less unfavorable judgement

gimme coffe?
wtf is that?Starbucks is pretty good coffee.... but what they've succeeded at more than anything else is creating atmosphere.
The alternative in canada is a string of wipe-snot-on-your-sleeve kind of places... and tim hortons.
and tim hortons is utter shit – unless you like waiting in line for 10 minutes for a beverage.

tha fuck? Tim Hortons is perfect, in my opinion. even Second Cup is better than Starbucks because their frozen hot chocolate tastes soooo good.
But I probably have this opinion because I don't drink coffee or tea :/
