I am prepping a file for the printer & I have multiple duotones in my InDesign doc, for displayI had PSD files in there, I converted them all to EPS before I submit the file - all the images look much darker now - isn't EPS the best format for duotone, is there some odd setting?

no one?

the way your monitor shows colors from one file format to another isn't a factor in print.

you get a test print and then check that for color accuracy.

i'm refering to when I print it on my large printer, the blue in the duotone is much darker & harsh looking as an EPS

so?
print it as a psd then .. if you're looking for a more accurate comp print to send in.

you need a proof. what you see out of your laser is meaningless. just different means of "faking it"

work with the printer to get it right - your in house printer will convert it to cmyk or rgb for output and will not give you an accurate print

thanks for the responses, was just worried because I have large fields of the blue next to the duotone images

if it's a big job, i'll send a file in for proof that's just a bunch of different curves, so you can compare and pick what looks best

when you saved as EPS
did you check -Include Transfer
Function?
- radar0
no, I didn't check Include Transfer Function, what is that all about?

your printer may need a few sessions of therapy. can you even imagine the depression that would ensue from not being respected as a true image reference.

In Duotone Option -
the Curves (control ink density and distribution)The "Include Transfer Function" makes sure that info is included

good to know aliceblue, thanks

and salisae, it definitely needs therapy for mental & physical abuse, I kick it and call it a wothless piece of sh*t atleast once a day.

well radar. ya get what you give. ya truly get what you give.

;-)
also don't just add a colour -
LOAD from PS - presets- duotone. This will give better quality (and the curves will be curved and NOT straight)
