My memory stick is supposed to hold 1gb, but it says it only has space for 55mb. There are no files on the stick. How can i make it back to full capacity? Thanks in advance.

Already tried that and nothing still. I only got it a few days ago. IT sure does suck.

Just had a look in disk utility and there are 3 separate volumes for it. It won't restore. Can i reformat it in osx. Tried to do it on a pc, but hasn;t worked.

Find a coworker with the same model USB stick. Switch them when he's not looking. Voila, problem solved!

I think your memory stick is obsolete you need to upgrade to the iPhone.

is it a sony memory stick or a usb drive?
Either way, plug it in so it shows as an external drive and re-format it using OSX.

since nobody replied:
> apps/ utils/ disk utility

That's what i thought. Just wondered if there was any other way. Think it's time to take a hammer to it...

It says there that one of them is 1GB, one is a 64MB backup. Are you totally sure you're not using the 64MB?
Hmmmm, I think you are, aren't you?
- PPirate0
Nope not using the 64mb one, unless they supplied me with two of them.

I thought using the OS to format solid state disks was a bad idea? Don't they generally require their own proprietary formatting, via whatever software came with them?
I just recall that being the case with my various MP3 players etc (I'm on Win, though, so..)
Not trying to sound like a smart ass - but why not search for the model number on the Sony support site and see what they recommend doing?
If that doesn't work, TheBlueOne's answer is a beautifully elegant workaround.

If you have used it in a PC as well as a mac, you need to delete the files when the stick is in the PC aswell as a mac.x

Just rtn it > manufacturer fault? The Chip is probably buggered.

Tried to empty your trashcan? It 'll clear your stick..
