Just started watching it the other day. Wasn't totally feeling it from the first epi but I'm drawn in just sitting down to watch the 5th. I think I was won over with Pullo stab that cheat in the throat. Fancy that.
Abandoned
(Jan 27 07, 00:48)If you like that then just keep watching it. Let me know what you think once you're finished the first season. Pullo in particular has a lot more fighting to go...

Episode 4 is really good.
I almost shed a tear near the end. Also, the torture scenes, particularly the second one, were brutal.

I was a little thrown by having a new Octavian (actor) but I guess he had to grow up eh

SPOILERS
I kind of was hoping that Octavia would walk in on Servilia's torture the way she did on Duro's torture.
Basically, for some reason, I really want to know if Octavia actually hates Servilia or not, since I know that she claims she does and Servilia obviously still doesn't want to hurt Octavia (besides not having a problem with killing her mother, Atia).

let's try that again...

i am waiting for the DVDs to come out for the season. it's gonna be a while till i can watch it.
Damn!!

I was really close to buying the first season on DVD but it's still like $100 here in Canada, which is not really worth it. Once it goes down, it'll be mine. It must cost that much for the insets, production, and number of special features.
The second season will be great to own as well, once it comes out.

im just not that into this show.
i prefer deadwood, lost, or six feet under.

really?
it's one of those i watch it once and i am good kinda show though...
i'd rather buy entourage dvds.

Rome is an awesome show. Much more entertaining to me compared to Lost or Six Feet Under. Although those two shows are good as well.
I have to say though...I don't generally like buying DVDs for these types of shows (particularly Lost) because I know I will never watch them again on my own. This is especially true of progressive shows, like Lost, where the plot evolves (well....kind of) in each episode and when you watch a previous episode you just remember all the shit that's going to happen soon.
Same with Rome, but it's more worth it because it has lots of special features and the battles and stuff.

Haha yea, it's finally getting to my favourite storyline with Antony and Cleopatra ... and as accordingly only a certain number of episodes left.

The current Television Bad-Ass Exchange Rate is One Titus Pullo for every 372 Jack Bauers.

omg, the episode I downloaded last week didn't include the scene at the end with Pullo's group taking care of Memmio (and the tongue ripping!!!) nor the scene with Antony and Cleopatra, what the hell???? Those were some of the best parts.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to watching the newest one tonight. It's almost finished :(
Octavian is one messed up child.

Awwww, the series is over!!??
Sad.
I really didn't miss the fighting in the last episode. I preferred the character development and I even nearly cried a few times (which hardly happens).
Standout scenes for me:
- When Antony was in so much agony after hearing of Cleopatra's "death"; also, when Cleopatra is in agony after finally figuring out about Octavian's true intentions.
- Atia telling Octavian's wife off before stepping outside to celebrate Octavian's victories. I never liked Atia more than Servilia, but this scene was great.
- Atia's hollowness during Octavian's celebration.
- Vorena with Vorenus near the end.
- Pullo's relationship with Vorenus is the cutest thing ever. And Antony and Cleo's children were adorable.

i know... over already.
wish there was a new season coming..

I wish it would just keep going and going, but that was one of the better series finales I have ever seen.

HBO's rome is good, like the way they've mixed in a bit of modern day culture EG: interesting use of the ancient language "Lucius! fuck off! you cunt!"
