Just built this movie site - www.theroundup.co.uk can any of you design folks offer me any words of wisdom r.e. the design...? Incidentally, if anyone is a movie buff then please feel free to leave comments at the site, or even submit a movie review

nice idea. poor execution. it looks extremely dull imho.
like it is some sort of intranet for an hospital or soemthing..

make the hero more intesting/colourful, change the colours to something that should actually be seen in 2007 and change the hideous font, both alba and that compressed nastiness

CrouwelDitto. This one's more visually interestig with film reviews...
I think it needs to be visually stimulating to invite people in to explore and contribute, that for me is why NT works so well...

Make the logo a lot bigger and fill that space a bit. or make the whole top bit shallower. Compressed font > not nice.
The logo, maybe make every other word a different colour instead of the first letter of each.

I think the essential problem, is that it captures none of the exctiement of film.
I mean, this is a film buffs site but I see nithing there that captures the passion with which film geeks bang on about films
