im pretty sure IE isnt updating on MAC anymore....so the version that is out there is really dated....so I'm not sure if its worth designing for...I dont design for IE on MAC and I did but then I saw it was discontinued and that the last update was like 2004 or later or something...I forget cause I stopped designing for it sometime last year

well, you could always point them to http://www.microsoft.com/mac/pro… and say microsoft came out and said they'd stop supporting it more than 2 years ago, plus it hasn't been updated since march of 2000. (almost 8 years there)
otherwise,
you could point to http://www.w3schools.com/browser… and show them that it doesn't even show up on the stats anymore, which means it's lower than .02% of the market share (probably MUCH lower)

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/pro…
that pretty much says it right there, MS wants you to use safari!

totally, the client just called me and was like it's totally broken.
I'm like, who uses ie on mac, and he goes "I do, I use it on my mac at home"
I read it was no longer getting updates. I guess i'll send him the info.
thx

exact same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. almost verbatim matter of fact.
had to bite the bullet, cuz even if the client is the last MF on earf to use it, he doesnt know that.
For all intents and purposes, he thinks that he is one of millions.
I would check his site stats if it is a redesign. see how many of his users are on macIE.
and of course, since then i make sure to spell it out explicitly in the project breif that i am only coding for modern browsers (followed by a list)
