I have a company here that is ranking most of their sites on the front page of Google. They are trying to charge my client a large some of money to optimise their site, how can I assist in the build to make the rankings go higher.
I know there is loads of info out there on this subject but wanted some quick snippets from you people.

the only technique ive used is using keywords in the index page multiple times, as well as meta tags, and waiting.

Make the title tag content of each page relative to content that appears in the body copy of the page. Make this editable for every page possible where there is unique conten. If the site is CMS driven maintain page titles as another field of content and develop them in a parallel fashion to the page content.

How many clients have you had that said, yes I happened upon you on Google! Unless you're a plumber of course.

(Jan 8 07, 09:00)Does this not work if I put keywords in the content of supsequent pages then? i.e the index.html is merely a splash with news etc. the about.html is where all the good ness is... should I change this?
