it's about 20 miles i am guessing, it is on the other side of the 5 miles wide river the Westerschelde.
The company is Dow, and it is the biggest industrial complex here, who provide work to a great amount of people in that region and also pollute everything pretty much.. :/

btw. you can already spot that light from over 70-90 kilometers away if you are lucky and when the flame is really really bright. But it usually is.
I sometimes wonder, isn't this a waste? Why don't they transform such a huge heat into energy?

if it's nafta they burning up what you see is probably the residue condensating in the air... like airplane smoke... you see it because the burnt fuel freezes in the air.
