There's some brilliant illustration and artwork that's been created, but not a single one of the participants came up with something that feels like it belongs in the world of Budweiser Select.

You can't just be cool by hiring cool artists.
Sez me anyway.

Sez yew.
I already voted for Neuarmy, heh.

I actually kind of agree. Some of them have notions of Budweiser in their work but none of them really feel right to me.

I love them all for various reasons. I'd put those goldfish illustrations up all over my house. But think about what you've seen for Budweiser Select on TV – it's all the slick club crowd in tight clothes and leather jackets with funk/hip hop music. Major brand disconnect on these spec campaigns.
We're the crowd that responds most to excellent creative, and how many of us go for Bud Select at the liquor store? Would you start because of cool illustration?

if all you get out of this is a "win" and "notoriety", that sucks, i like money

(Jan 4 07, 14:22)I'm not that type of person anyway (at least without getting some other opinions first), but there are definitely people who would go out and buy the product by looking at the advertisements. That's how it works, after all. I like almost all of the artwork available in the campaign but it's definitely different from what they had before. It's not necessarily a bad thing but maybe a transition or something that is familiar to Budweiser needs to be used so people can associate the advertisements with the product more easily.

look like most of them were done by the same person. that same person that made every other t-shirt and website you've already seen.

"Budweiser Select"
"Our Finest Brewed Piss"no real beer drinker would touch that stuff, shame to see trend design getting caught up in the purveyance of alcoholism

I'm with you V4 - Give bud props for paying artists to do good work - but buy that mule piss, I am not.

(Jan 4 07, 14:22)Haha not at all, but that's because I drink a lot of booze and know what I like.
Wine though, that's a horse of a different colour.

Hi.
Thanks for the votes, trust that I appreciate each and every one!As always, you guys have a lot of valid opinions, although I think the main obective of the campaign was to let a diverse group of artists run free with there own interpretation of the brand without really representing the idea of "beer". It's other objective was to solidify Flavorpill’s reputation as a destination for cutting edge design. I think the Select brand wants to identify with that same creative class as well. So, here we are talking about it ;)
In the end it was a fun project, with exposure, a chance to win a national print campaign, and yes, there was loot involved...
Word.
And, I'm not one to use this board to self promote very often, but if you get a chance to vote that would be dope.

good, i already voted for you

ah good – it'd be a shame if Budweiser didn't cash up for the preliminary work.
