So I am exporting to PDF but certain pages crash during export. I am linking illustrator files but is there a way to avoid this or pinpoint the crash?

dunno if this helps but i have a similar porblem with illustrator eps files that contain live type elememts when placed in INDD. can't print them from INDD (to a printer or pdf file). i have to convert the text in the illustrator file to outlines then place in INDD. probably more of a font thing than a CS2 thing but that's what i do and it works.

might be too heavy for your processor, seriously, think about how big those illy files might be...

Try removing the images one at a time from the problem pages and then print them to see which one is the culprit.
Do the Illustrator files all print fine from Illustrator? You could test that too.
Good luck.

My copy does it all the time. The only thing I've come up with is printing a pdf through Acrobat instead of exporting. If you're on a mac you can print and just save a pdf with the print dialog.

I've had that happen on a few projects. Is it a large multi-page doc? If so, I'd export in batches and then combine in Acrobat.
For example, export pages 1-10, 11- 20 and 21-30. Combine in Acrobat.
Sorry if i'm being redundant.

I don't know why I was thinking printing not exporting to PDF.
I agree with ninjasavant try printing to PDF or for that matter print to postscript and distill the old school way.

"print to postscript and distill the old school way"
this is the only method that i have found to consistently work for me.

Are there fonts in those Illy files? And, are those fonts active or outlined?
That could very well be your problem.
