i was reading through Typographica this morning and i came across the term "upright italic" which didn't make much sense to me. What does it mean?
I guess i've got a lot to learn about type, which leads to my second question. What book should i get to learn about type? I'd prefer something available on amazon because i've got a gift certificate to use.

oh and to answer the original question, an upright italic is an italic that slopes less than a standard italic. Somewhere between 4 and 5 degrees in slope.
