I'm working with lubalin graph right now for my headline, and Berthold Akzidenz for copy, anyone. Feel like it's a safe choice, boo! Anybody got any ideas?

lubalin & avant garde?

avant garde is less legible.
depends on which is for body text and which for the headers???

actually we just did a website for the same client and the whole thing is basically avant garde, not my design, so i tried to change it up a little thanks for ur input tho

don't use Akzidenz for text. It looks funky IMO. Use Helvetica or Univers, or if you have it use Akkurat (a refined variant of Akzidenz).

First question should be: what is the project and who is the audience?

Herb Lubalin was once quoted as saying Avant Garde only ever looks good in the word 'Avant Garde'. Weird huh.

That was Ed Benguiat, but perhaps Herb said it too.

Lubalin Graph looks so Lubalin.. it doesn't work with much other than AvantG imo.
I would instead suggest using a slab similar to Lubalin, but less uniform and round so it matches up with Berthold Akzidenz or other sans.
Look at Serifa or Rockwell or Boton.
