All I know about Mormons is that they're just like everyone else in the sense of social standing. I've drank with many, lived with some, banged a couple (of the female persuasion of course) and am great friends with at least 10 or so to this very day since high school and college. I've lived in UT and witnessed the church's influence at it's strongest... and still they're just like everyone else. Go party in Salt Lake and see what happens...

I'm glad there are crazy girls involved in this thread-long understanding of what a mormon society might be.

Mormons are not considered Christians because they deny essentials of the Christian faith. For instance, they have a different Jesus - they claim he is a created being: the elder brother of Lucifer. This violates the clear teachings of scripture on the nature and identity of Christ.

hahahaha! I was meeting my ex for dinner once, and when i came out of the subway station, she told me that this gentleman with a clipboard was taking a survey for the Boston subway. hahahahaha. turned out he was a mormon canvaser trying to convert people. man, was i pissed. gave me a free bible tho. been a nice bookend for me.

I suppose so, mimio. But it's shared by every essentials-embracing mainstream denomination I can think of. [And it's a fact that Mormons believe that Jesus is the created half-brother of Lucifer.]
The Bible is clear on what being a Christian is:
"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."
-- 1 John 5:11-12
"Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
-- John 14:6
So, if one is made a Christian by having Jesus, then a Jesus who doesn't square with the Biblical Jesus, is a Jesus who cannot save because he's a counterfeit.

flagellum, your reasoning doesn't make sense. People all over the world that profess to be 'Christians' don't apply scriptural principles in their lives. For example, I don't think George Bush is adhering the counsel at Matthew 22:39; "You must love your neighbor as yourself."
Also, if Jesus is God's first born, and thereafter, God went on to create other angels such as Lucifer/Satan, then Jesus/Michael is, in effect, the older brother of those sons of the heavens.
I would question why Mormons only evangelize for 3 years. Although this was the span of Jesus' ministry, the Bible doesn't say that his disciples need only fulfill the same period.

12 million Mormons. I'm sure they're wondering if America thinks they're legit enough for a President.
