I have original video footage with a resolution of 728x480. I'm creating a new video that is 320x240. I want to take a sequence of my original video and use it in my new video but I don't want to scale it down...instead, I want to take a portion of the video's area (like the upper 1/3 of the image seen). Is this possible in Final Cut Pro?

click on the video tab on the viewer panel then click on + button in the center field.
on the canvas panel there should be a red "+" then drag your clip to the desired position
