Indesign Text Flow Help Needed

Hi Designers,
I'm having a very odd problem.
We all know Indesign auto flows type, inserting new pages when need be. However, if I change the type SCALE or STYLE in any way that increases the page count, Indesign does NOT make this change. Manually adding pages does not solve the problem. Indesign will insert them, but not flow the new type into them. Using the Book feature is also no good.
Can anyone help?

so you're looking to avoid having to manually link text areas when InD doesn't extend it out automatically?
I don't know of anything that would help...is it too much to do manually?

I just seem to be completely unable to get my text to flow correctly.
In another problem that may be related, my text frames are not working. Rather than beginning my type at top of the page, I want my type to start halfway down. I set my three column text frame to start at the middle of the page. However, when I auto flow the type, the type flows from the top of the page, regardless of where my text frame is placed.
I hope I am explaining my problems clearly. Wish I post screenshots here.
