Ok, so I don't have much experience on print lately. But I have a small brochure I have to send to a printer.
They requested PDF High Res. I exported my Psd ad a PDF and everything looks good, but the file is huge. around 450MB each.
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to export these files at smaller sizes without changing the resolution (300dpi)?
Thanks

check the resolution of the document, and check your PDF export settings. You can also get them to 300dpi by using Acrobat.

Trying merging all the layers except for the text layers.

Ok so before I export the Psd file as a PDF, I flaten the image... crap that must be one of the problems...
I thought Acrobat would flaten the image.

flatten all image layers if possible.
i almost always send printers a collected quark or indd file with fonts, images, etc as well as the pdf in case of problems.

pdf optimizer..
res down to 300-350.
you could also jpeg @ max quality
or zip it
and next time design brochure in a layout app, not PS.

what horton said...
when you stick fonts into ps for print, sometimes they will come out like garbage.
much better to send the printer the screen and ps fonts.
