Anyone have an opinion on the design BFA available online from SCAD (Savannah College of Art + Design)? Considering a career/life change and it's either them online or the Corcoran in DC.
Looking for help/opinions from all of you who have any knowledge of the place.

savannah is such a cool town, it would be ashame to do online studies.

I went there, and I agree half the experience was the city & the people you are around

The experience of lifetime! I graduated in the spring and not only did I love it because of the city but because the school works with a lot of global companies. This was able to give me a really great network for when I graduated. It seems like a lot of the companies wanted a piece of SCAD and worked very closely with the students.... I am not sure if you can receive that same experience taking online classes.

I agree, however...
I am 34, married, two kids and ripping them from their lives to appease me... well, you know, ain't gonna fly.I have been to Savannah in the past, and did think it was a very cool town. But given the inability to relocate, that's why I was specifically asking about the online gig. I know it won't have the same vibe, crits, etc., but SCAD seems to have a pretty solid rep.
Am I correct? There are so many cheesy online 'degree' programs out there... I want to graduate from a respectable institution.

yeah, it does carry a really good rep & a great resource center for jobs & freelance for alum - so if you can't go there - it's still probaly a good school to get your degree from.

I think you will be uprooting their lives regardless. Any real school of merit will have you working into the wee hours of the night and beyond...

I graduated from SCAD in 99 loved that school and the professors. Every now and then I would get a crappy professor but I think that is anywhere you go. SCAD was like gold once I moved to Atlanta after school and started applying for jobs. I'd say give it a shot.

not even accredited by nasadstudents dont even need to show a portoflio to get in
mostly rich talentless wack kids who only got in because they can afford to pay the tuition
teachers dont have tenure, they work on 2 year contracts...good luck on a stable faculty for your entire stay there
and what fucking school offers a design degree ONLINE?!?!?
and what nut job even considers doing their design program online?
