Sorry, never experienced that....Maybe you shouldn't go out to lunch.

start up holding shift

(if you aren't already) - check out the apple discussion groups ( http://discussions.apple.com/ind… ) good stuff in there sometimes.
good luck.

I had this happen on on old powerbook a few years back – it's usually bad news when you're not able to start up... try starting up from your OSX disk or iTools or whatever else will get you in (hold down C with the disk inserted when you restart).
that or go see a Genius and get ready to hear 'lemon'
could be anything, but it doesn't sound good

there's an issue with QT 7.1 and third party startup items on intel macs
startup holding shift, then look in Library/Startupitems
move everything out of this folder and restart. if it succeeds, you need to update QT to 7.1.1

shift doesnt do anything neither does C it goes to the loading screen and still stops at 97%

you really should have bought a pc.
that way when something like this happens you know exactly how to fix it.
a complete reinstall.

hope you've backed up.
- traut0
theres some small stuff thats not backedup but i really dont understand how it can work 100% then just die most times PCs give you alot of warning signs MACS just give up.

start up in verbose mode and note what it says when it hangs at 97%?
- grunttt0
hit the power button with a hammer.

i'd shut down. unplug. wait a few then try again.
if it's still messed up look into diskwarrior.
http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrio…used that on my old g4 when it shit the bed. worked wonders for the system.

verbose ?
what
- acescence0
start up in single user mode by holding command-s
type:
fsck -f
at the prompt, and just answer yes to everything. type reboot and pray.
- material-10
maybe uninstall font explorer X ;)
- pyeaton0
Try using the restore disc to start off of (insert disc, hold C key down on start up), and run disc utility. Thats scary dude.
- acescence0
or verbose command-v
- turosatano0
hold command v during startup for verbose mode. It should give info on everything its doing while OSX loads and whatever it says when it hangs is what you need to know to fix it!
