  Is there a way to change the default font of times to something else.

  Reason being is that we use helvetica alot and would be easier if the default was set to that.

  I'd say use templates with pre-built text style sheets

  I don't know of any way to override that default application-wide

  Open Indesign.

  With no documents open, select the text tool and choose Helvetica or any font you wish as the app default.

  Open new doc and that's it.

  You can also set anyother Charactor or paragraph prefs at the same time.

  i just tried that. even shut down InD and restarted and sure enough my revised settings remained.
