Rez______,
I'll agree that Safari has it's problems try going to the online knowledge base for adobe/macromedia. you can view one page and the next time you try to access an article it will fail to load properly, but from the explination you gave it seems like the data being sent by Cacti or whatever is pretty inefficient? Seems like there would be a better way to serve that information.

the largest issue i've had is here at work, my safari chooses a select few pages to display as all numbers, crunched together in a small space. its a problem with CSS i think...firefox displays those pages just fine. wikipedia is a good example...it doesnt render any of the text.

(Nov 29 06, 13:12)ah! i have one G5 that has the same problem, and i can't f'ing figure out what it is!! it started doing that randomly one day, and it's the only machine with that problem.

I had an ajax file uploader that I was implementing for a printer client. They needed to have designers upload files (pdf's etc) up to 250 megs. The ajax uploader didnt work in safari but worked in every other browser.
so what browser do most designers use? safari.
We had to go with this clunky java uploader that looked and worked like shit, all because mac users using it because it is the default on OSX.
I gots no love for safari.

so you blame safari because some lazy developer didn't test it? it's possible to build an AJAX uploader that does work in safari, i can send it to you if you'd like.

i was on safari once. worst trip ever. the brochure promised elephants and lions and shit like that, all we saw was a bunch of fucking birds.

relax. I just don't like the browser, the forced aqua interface pisses me off also.

And if it works in every other browser, but not in safari, I do blame safari. It works in 95% of browsers on the planet, but not in safari. It also has rendered divs differently than all other browsers in the past. I think this was corrected with newer versions though.
I just don't like it because hardly noone uses it and it is the thorn in many people's sides with such a limited userbase.

AJAX calls are identical in mozilla and safari. IE is the one browser that has to be coded differently than all the others.

(Nov 29 06, 14:19)Even though it's ugly, it's often not a great idea to screw with those elements anyways. People get used to the operating system's interface and some times get confused when you change it (read, people are stupid but stupid people are often your audience)

whatever, it isn't like it is going anywhere. mac fandom is here to stay. I just wish more than 5% of the world actually used the thing to justify it existing.

Zeldman wrote about it two days ago..

If you go through comments, you'll find me there righting his wrongs on web-safe fonts..What? I bought his book and wasted two years of my life learning flawed css, the guy owed me ;)

Maybe next time you'd be better off using your own words to describe why Safari sucks, as opposed to just blatantly rip off this guy's blog:

I'm cool with Safari, but FF 2.0 (mbp osx) is great!
