We get a service discount for this, right?

I've had some problems since the migration.
Email says it has been sent in Outlook, then a Norton popup tells me there was an error getting on the server end. Pisses me off 'cause I have no way of knowing if the email really was sent or not. That's happened a few dozen times in the last 2 weeks.
Yesterday stunk. I had expected several crucial emails late in the day and had to tell clients that there were problems, please post to FTP.
On the plus side, I am loving the 100 gigs of space. I am going to use every ounce of that and more!!
Hopefully they'll get it sorted out before Irecommend them to another client.

FYI - the timeout errors most of us are seeing are from MySQL are from a maxconnections hitting its limit - which is a mysql setting not a php.ini setting.

so it's down again....looking worse and worse, I have to admit
So why doesn't NT go down? As I recall, it used to go down when MT went down.

So why doesn't NT go down?

(Dec 5 06, 10:45)its not on the grid?
- groundst0
Well, obviously, UndoUndo. The question is, if the Grid was so good, why wouldn't they use it?
- groundst0
Isn't Newstoday on MT?
- Mick0
And still the unreliable MT grid fails me as I sit here at 2am watching my site give 500 connection errors every 10 minutes and getting responses from MT to links saying "Known issue" followed by "the issues have been resolved".
This has become my MT venting thread :)
ps. My guess is newstoday have their own dedicated server off the grid.

If you count how many times you see me re-open this thread. This is how many times Grid Server has let me down. MySQL connection errors once again! Time to take off all the MT logos off your site designer folk ;)

Here's to a new year of more MediaTemple issues - this MySQL timeout issues has started again... must be a new year present from MT. *sigh*

Can't access anything right now, including webmail and I have important client emails (freelance) that I need to send out. Fantastic!
MT don't make me hate when all I want to do is love.

In my recent interview with Tim Dorr of A Small Orange I asked him about Media Temple’s “grid” and he responded by saying that it was not a grid but a cluster of servers and I have to agree with him on this (as would most people). The entire thought behind a grid was that you can use the computing power behind all the nodes to solve a single problem and if any one node failed there would be no impact. We’ll let IBM define a grid:
Grid computing enables the virtualization of distributed computing and data resources such as processing, network bandwidth and storage capacity to create a single system image, granting users and applications seamless access to vast IT capabilities. Just as an Internet user views a unified instance of content via the Web, a grid user essentially sees a single, large virtual computer.
You can also view more definitions of what a grid is here here here and here with example of grids. Once you read the definition of a grid and then look at Media Temple’s grid or 3tera’s Applogic you’ll notice they are not grids. They cannot distribute processing tasks across multiple nodes and if the node you are on crashes you will go down.
