Hi all,
I will be purchasing a new mac shortly, just wondering if anyone can make any recommendations on where to buy from and what model to get. I was actually thinking of getting the new macbook pro, quite keen on a laptop, just worried that it won't be as updatable as a desktop version, or is that something that was a problem a few years ago.
Love to hear you thoughts, especially on the best place to buy from, I've always bought direct from apple before now.
Thanks

apple refurb, john lewis offers two years apple care.

for cost it's gonna be the mail order people you find in Mac Format etc..
I bought mine from Micro Anvika as they were offereing a memory upgrade at the time.
JL quote that they are "never knowingly undersold" so you could find the best price and stick it to 'em, plus the 2 years apple care...
...actually strange that - I thought apple care came in 3 year packages...?

I would urge you not to buy from micro anvika, those fucking wankers are the most miserable, money grabbing bunch of cunts you could hope to deal with. Go into one of their stores on Tottenham court road, they will pretty much treat you like shit, they just dont want to know. All those cunts on TCH can suck a dick, but not mine.

All you can updgrade in a macbook is hard drive (legal to do on your own in mb, afaik not so in the pro) and ram.
An 20 or 24" iMac (ie. refurbished from UK Apple store) is a tad more upgradeable - you can put an 10000rpm hard drive in it, as well as faster future intel processors. I guess a 10Krpm WD Raptor drive would speed it up radically.

what will you be using your mac for? What kind of work?

Can anyone tell me if this mac book:
http://www.comet.co.uk/cometbrow…
is an older version, I notice on the apple site they talk about core 2 duo?
Thanks/
- rafalski0
if it's not core 2 duo, it's not worth more than http://store.apple.com/Apple/Web…
(link will expire soon)
