4 years ago I learned a little Director. It allowed me to export from Maya and Lightwave and use simple code to create RT rendered 3D environments.
I'm interested in doing more of this, but I have the feeling that director is kind of on its way out.
Is there another 3d engine environment that is easy to handle without having to learn C or anything heavy like that? Is Director still the best place for this? Anyone know of anything else?

Really? No one has anything to say about this? So I guess Director is it.

Not that it's the same but I take 3D models and export them out as black silhouettes and outline them in Illy and make crazy angular vectors.
even with stupid apps like Bryce.

Not sure what you are talking about actually. Is all the 3D for the web? Or for comping into film/video. If the latter, try Shake, it seems to handle native Maya files very well, particulary when playing with multipass renders. But then again, this is likely not what you are looking for,

Try Electric Rain's range of products that link with Flash: http://www.erain.com/ Their RAViX III plugin is the same one that powers Maya's in-built SWF export functionality.
