totalled, airbags didn't go off even after hitting an electrical pole at around 40-50mph. I'm not getting another VW even though I didn't die. But I think that was the Recaro seats.
As for what gay bottoms drive, I think Ted Haggard drove a truck.

Well yours looked a bit more totalled then mine, I spun out and hit a concrete wall, my engine mounts broke and somethings damaged in the transmission. Just a little over 40,000 miles. I about shit when I saw yours only had 22,000 miles on it ! OUCH

yeah. It was a nice new ride, I miss the BBS rims and the tight shifting, but evidently VW's are more likely to end in a total because of the way they absorb impact so when you get in an accident you're hosed. Its more expensive. The insurance adjuster started with "hey we can fix it with $4k" and I was like "really?" then two days later was "oops, total. here's a check for a new car"
Fortunately it wasn't super depreciated, but I got a saab 9-3 instead which overall I'm digging, not as sport tuned as the GLI was but over time it can get hooked as well and some nice grownup features.

total = your insurance companies decision.
They probably make a decent chunk of change ripping it down for parts, the rims on the gli alone were worth like $2500.
