Anyone have any ideas of products that enable the playing of video in emails (meaning in Outlook or any other email client) this company says they have a product,
http://www.clipstream.com
anyone ever used this before?

haven't used them, but man that sounds convenient. I wonder what the holdups are. I'd love to hear from someone who's used it too...

i bet it ONLY works in outlook if you are viewing html emails.

a video playing in an email browser - i VERY much doubt that! most peoples spam filters would have alarms going off here there and everywhere.
looks like they are using java to run the videos that they stream from websites, bear in mind a lot of people have java turned off on their web browsers.
and wasnt java video and animation something that was used as an alternative to flash when flash wasnt popular.
whats the coverage of flash now? 96%plus - probably moreso that java, no?

from their site:
Clipstream™ relies on the Java™ cross-platform runtime, a piece of software installed on 96% of existing browsers today.and i believe flash is sitting at about 98%
i really dont believe that their product will work in emails, particularly not to people within companies who sit behind strict firewalls.
i'd get them to prove it by sending you a video that you can forward onto various accounts or colleagues who can test it to see if it works in their email browsers.

______________________________do we agree that we are certain that Flash does not work in email clients but it is the case that Java does?

have nothing to say about this app- but however Apple does it w/ their emails is slick as hell....

in my quote i wasnt talking email applications, i was talking web browsers.
on their site they dont even mention that they can sent these videos via email - they just say it can be used on web browsers.
flash definitely doesnt work in email browsers and im pretty damn sure java wont.
get them to send you an example to your email if they say they can do it

23kon - your wisdom is startling at this hour.

I think our agency is signing a deal with these guys and so that means I'll soon be "designing" emails with embedded video in them... yippee.
- jersey40000
robotron3k - would you happen to have any examples you could forward to me? If you're at liberty to discuss how's their pricing structure and was there any reason why you put designing in quotes in your response? (just curious)
- 23kon0
...and robotron3k ... have you seen any examples of these videos running in emails?
Java isnt anything groundbreaking they sound like they are trying to sell this as cutting edge and new - its an old technology - and they are trying to make it sound more 'accessible' for videos on WEBpages than flash.
So why have GoogleVids and YouTube and video sites like that all gone with Flash based players?
